So What is a Storyboard?

A story board is basically a plan of each shot you have in the film using illustrations. These should include the type of shot, any sound used and the action being filmed.

Here's a professional example from Harry Potter:

How Does a Storyboards help the filming?

• Helps planning of shots and how you want the film to look.
• Helps prevent any frustrations with shooting scenes.
• Used as a directors aid for creating the film.
• Can help the editors and sound editors when the ques for sounds and cuts are.
